Wow! This has been a crazy time for me. I've been working hard trying to get my Etsy business off the ground. I'm a photographer by trade and really wanted to do something with my love for all things...well, most things....mid century. I've been having a great time treasure hunting, but when the time came to put my shop together I realized how clueless I was.
I wanted to make sure I did everything the right way. After all, this is my business and my livelihood. Turns out, right way = legal documentation and lots of not so lovely paperwork. After (finally!) getting a handle on what the state of Ohio requires, I then had to figure out the ins and out of online sales. For me, that meant hitting the library for plenty of "Dummies" books for tips on everything from sales tax to creating my shop banner. I have to tell you, Kari Chapin's The Handmade Marketplace is a gem! She has great insights from sellers on things that would've never occurred to me.
So, anyway. I feel like I've done enough work behind the scenes and hope to officially open my shop in the next couple days. I'm excited to share all my treasures and hope to gain some of my own insights to share.
